"Chronic Radiation Proctitis" and Formalin Treatment

On 8/23/08 was one year since my seeding. Just started spotting blood with stool and one or two times a week will flow. Gastoenterologist says it is "chronic radiation proctitis" and is common after IMRT and/or seeding. He want to treat with Formalin swab. Has anyone experienced this symptom and elected this treatment? Appreciate hearing your experience/counsel.

Thanks
