Completed radiation treatment

completed 25 IMRT and 17 PBRT on 7/24/08. PSA .21, free PSA .08, percent free PSA 38.1, testosterone 14.6

I have been on Lupron and Casodex for 3 months and will continue for 2 years. They suspect the PCa might have been outside the prostate but most recent CT/MRI could not see it in the area of the suspected lymph node.

my story is contained in my website www.gleason10.com
my email is smilingoldcoot at hotmail.com and I am available to try and assist anyone who is in need.

Re: Completed radiation treatment

Congratulations Richard,
Was the Lupron Depot a shot to the hip, and does the injection site hurt?

Re: Re: Completed radiation treatment

Yes, Lupron was/is a shot to the buttock because there is a lot of muscle there. It did not hurt at the time of the shot but the next day or 2 it was sore. Nothing that required any further attention though.

Re: Completed radiation treatment

Aloha Richard,
My first shot was June 07 and was told that I would be on the stuff for three years. At the end of 1 year, I told them that I could not tell which hip was 3 mts & which was 6 mts, they both hurt enough that I take OTC pain pill prior to bed time to help sleep. They stopped with the four shots. We are going to wait & watch.

Re: Completed radiation treatment

So I was not the only one suffering with hip/leg pain following those Lupron shots, as my Urologist suggested ... he was surprised that I felt any discomfort at all.

My hip pain was very precise ... the pain set in the day after the shot and lasted two days, no more, no less and I had to use a cane for support while walking.

I'm sure glad that part of the treatment is over, for now anyway.

Re: Re: Completed radiation treatment

Aloha Phred,
You Are Not Alone - The oncologist & urologist had not dealt with injection site hip pain before. Was on a 4.5 mile hike today, had to stop and take a Tylenol Arthritis toward the end of the hike. Same thing riding the off-road bicycle. Need to take Tylenol at night to sleep.
