Re: VA information

Some states have VA advocacy groups. I don't know if there is a nationwide group. Try googling it! - Pat Priestley (Alaska, USA)

Re: VA information

I applied to the VA for treatment due to Agent Orange exposure in Viet Nam. I was an infantry man there and remember it being wet after recent sprayings. We often patrolled the dead jungle. Our superiors, when questioned ,claimed it was safe to drink.

I was hoping to have robotic surgery at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto. They share some of the the same surgeons with Stanford Medical Center. They denied coverage due to some issues with my 2nd period of service.

If you are not previously enrolled in their program it takes time. The VA does their best to wriggle out of their obligations. I am also financially solvent which draws little sympathy or concern.

I felt the cancer could not wait...perhaps it could of. Fortunately I had private insurance which covered it after my "out of pocket".Still a major outlay for me which leaves a bad taste.

Now the VA argument is that I am "cured" . I have retained an attorney to "sue the bastards". He must believe I will prevail as he is doing it on a contingency basis .Google VA attornies. There are many out there.

Re: VA information

Check out the va,gov web site, there is a link named decisions. That link takes you to all their decisions. Just type prostate cancer and you can read 1000s dating back to WWII to present of cases and why they were approved or disappproved. Good luck. It takes times, I do not think your husband has anything to worry about, and he is going to get his money back to the date he applied. Remember, the VA goes on percentage, and all side affects count.
