Letters added to the end of the acronym, PC

I have noticed that some people place an 'a' after the acronym, PC. I was talking to my orthropedic surgeon about shoulder problems and mentioned I had prostate cancer and was on ADT and he asked my if my prostate cancer was 'c'. Does anyone know what the addition of these letters at the end of PC mean?

Re: Letters added to the end of the acronym, PC

TV,

I have always understood that Ca is medical shorthand for Cancer, and that there is usually a suffix designating the site - thus CaP is prostate cancer and CaB is breast cancer.

However the designator is often used as a prefix, especially by non-medical people like us, so it becomes PCa for prostate cancer and BCa for breast cancer.

I have no idea what PCc might be - and neither does Wikipedia!!

Best

Terry
