hi my dad has had brachytherapy treatment for prostate cancer approx 4 months back. all seemed well and symptoms were minor until recently when his perenium has become red and incredibly sore. the gp is unsure what this could be. has anyone else experienced this? what treatment is there? thanks
I had IMRT 6 months ago for PCa and have pains in my perenium also, but no redness. So far, the pain is minor and intermittent, but have been increasing in both areas lately. Search on Google for "pudendal nerve" articles, they will give you some ideas. Let me know. Alan
I can see how urinary discomfort could persist for 4 months especially with Iodine seeds, but not the persistant redness and irritation. If incontinence was a problem a warm moist environment might contributed to the problem. The only advice that I might give is to be sure your dad's GP has ruled out jock itch (usually quickly found with UV lamp) and staph infection. Good luck, Pat (Alaska, USA)
