ADT and loss of emotions

I have been on ADT 10 months. My mother in law died a week ago. I was not extremely close to her, having been married only 13 years. During the funeral planning and since I totally lose control and start crying like a baby with no warning. Her daughter, my wife, is under control better than I am. Is this caused by my lack of testosterone, and ADT shots? I feel like a baby and am afraid I will make a fool of myself at the funeral.

Re: ADT and loss of emotions

Being a victim of ADT side effects for 18 months now, I know exactly where you're coming from. I prefer to think of it as an emotional flare up rather than losing control. I took Xanax last year for about three months to combat this problem, the drug seemed to help in that respect but it's not anything you'd want to take for extended periods. You undoubtedly are sharing in your wife's grief whether you realize it or not. When I have the dreaded flare up I try to remove myself from the situation and go somewhere to try and pull it back together. I can't even imagine tring to cope with a funeral scene.
It seems like there are two roads you can follow, either avoid the funeral, with the understanding that your condition would be too intense for you in your condition, or attend the funeral, realizing that you won't be the only one crying.
If you're upfront with your wife and others close to the family I'm sure that they'll understand either way.
And yes, if my experience can shed any light on the subject, this is directly related to your lack of testosterone caused by the ADT shots.
Hang in there. - p (Alaska)

Re: ADT and loss of emotions

ON MY SECOND SHOT OF LUPRON I EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SITUATIONS AS YOURS ALTHOUGH PERHAPS NOT QUITE AS INTENSE. AT LEAST YOU HAD A REASON FOR YOUR EMOTIONAL FLARE. LAST WEEK I BEGAN CRYING IN A RESTAURANT FOR ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD REASON.
I HATE THIS ADT, CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO WORK OUT OF MY SYSTEM. SERIOUSLY DON'T KNOW IF IT IS WORTH THE QUALITY OF LIFE IMPACT OF EMOTIONS, WEAKNESS, HOT FLASH/CHILLS.
DOCTORS SHOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT FOR THREE MONTHS THEMSELVES BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO PRESCRIBE IT.
