Erectile Dysfunction

Dan posted this yesterday on the thread “Positive Margin” and it might have been missed by those who would find his views of some use:

“On the ED issue, my surgeon (had open RP a year ago) prescribed 25mg of viagra 1 hour before bedtime daily and 100mg around once a week with "exercise" (although he said there was no problem with exercising more often). The 25mg is to keep blood flowing into the region while you sleep, which is believed to aid in recovery.”

This ties in with a recent piece that Lenny sent me which I loaded at Use It or Lose It

It is worth reading, I think.

All the best

Re: Erectile Dysfunction

Terry:

I have seen comments from some that insurance won't pay for many pills of Viagra. One way to do this is have the script written for either 50mg or 100 mg and cut them into 1/2 or 1/4.

Re: Re: Erectile Dysfunction

Frankly I told the insurance company that the pills were for therapy and not recreation and they approved it for two years

Re: Erectile Dysfunction

Hi All,

In the UK meds are free, as you probably all know.
It was my specialist urolgy nurse who told me I should ask the my local doctor for a prescription for Viagra, adding that I should ensure they were 100mg, as lower doses would possibly be ineffective for me.

My local doc didn't even know that PCa patients were eligible, and had to read through his handbook before he was convinced!

I have to say, the 100mg worked pretty well for me after the hormone treatment finally nuked my libido.

Only one side effect in my own case....THE HEADACHE FROM HELL the following morning! but hey, small price to pay for some much required THERAPY! : )--

Best Wishes,
