Re: GVAX

Robert:
GVAX is in two Phase III trials currently, one for men who are asymptomatic (without pain or strictures) with that being GVAX vs. Docetaxel. Another is for men who are symptomatic and is GVAX + Docetaxel vs. Docetaxel. I believe the nature of these trials is that you do not know which arm you will be randomized to. You have a good chance to receive the GVAX treatment, but not certain. Please check with the trial administer on this. Yes, the Phase II trials ended with 34 of 65 men with an immune response, and those men had significant survival compared to all others. This was GVAX alone, not compared to Taxol, though some may have been switched to Taxol when GVAX failed.
At present the only way to access GVAX is through the trial, though this may be a gamble with the randomizing feature. Best of luck.
