I have a 19 month old blue dapple Dashchund named Aaby. My question concerns a interesting behavior she displays with one of my friends. She loves to lay across his face/neck with her paws resting on his face. We call it 'smothering' and we laugh about it. But I was just want to know whether she does it out of a desire to love him or a desire to protect him. Any thoughts? She only does it when he lies back.
