I currently have an 18 month old male short hair dachshund. And, I now have an opportunity to get a second male short hair dachshund puppy.
I've read that it's not a good idea to have two male dogs together, in general. Is this the case with dachshunds? Or, can two males dachshunds live together peacefully? Would it be better to get a female puppy instead?
Are you asking if it's advisable to have two un-neutered male dogs together?
I work at an animal shelter that euthanizes animals and so of course I'm going to be prejudiced...all your animals should be neutered/spayed.
Any male dachshund or other breed un-neutered males will want to mark territory, hump you or another dog or the furniture, run at large, and make other problems.
My advice: two males together are okay. Try to have both neutered. A problem would most likely arise if one/both are NOT neutered and a female in season is around.
The worst scenario is when two female siblings are together, they seem to be more volatile.
