Squad for First League Match (Sunday 2nd September)

This coming Sunday (2nd September) sees us playing our first Waltham Sunday League Division One match of the season Away to Rosemill at Grundy Park in Cheshunt.
Full details are on the Forthcoming Fixtures page.

We currently have a squad of 13 definites as follows who are all registered and have all either paid their Annual Subs (or most of it) and/or have been reliable during Pre-Season:
Simon Jackson (GK)
Alan Barnard
Terry Moore
Lexton Harrison
Tony King
Gavin Mardell
Danny Hagan
Daniel Cascoe
Frankie Karemo
Krishan Singh
Rafiel Johnson
Ben Keating
Daniel Daley

Martin Loveday has also paid his Annual Subs, so although we don't know where has has been for the last two Sundays, he will still be in the squad to make it up to 14 if he is available.

As we can name a squad of 16 for League matches, it is up to the following registered players to get in touch and let us know if they are available or not:
Ivan Bass
Riaz Daniels
Vernon 'Kizza' Nxumalo
Martin Worthington
John Scouller

If any of the above five players volunteer to play 7-a-side this coming Thursday night and pay their Annual Subs, then they will definitely be in the squad for this match and might even end up in the starting line-up.

If Loveday cannot play and we have less than 16 players available, then Dan Tribe will be in the squad as a substitute goalkeeper.

The only registered player unavailable for this match at the moment is Ali 'TJ' Sowe who pulled a hamstring in our final Pre-Season Friendly on Sunday and thinks he will be out for four weeks.

As for travelling to the venue, everybody should sort out their own lifts and get there by 9.45.a.m. so that we can have a proper warm-up. We do NOT want players turning up 5 minutes before the kick-off for League matches like they have been doing for our Pre-Season Friendlies.

Re: Squad for First League Match (Sunday 2nd September)

Just a warning (copied from a Broxbourne Council website):

Windmill Lane/Grundy Park Leisure Centre Car Park:
Charges apply Monday - Friday 6am - 6.30pm; and Sunday 6am - 5pm:
up to 30 minutes 30p
up to 1 hour 60p
up to 2 hours £1.40
up to 3 hours £2.00
up to 4 hours £2.80
up to 6 hours (maximum stay) £7.50
Saturdays and Bank Holidays free

So...if we get there between 9.30 & 9.45 for a warm-up and there is an injury delay or whatever during the match, then we don't drive off home until after 12.45.p.m., it is going to cost us £2.80 each to park !
Might be an idea getting x amount of players into as few cars as possible and all passengers chipping in £1.00 each for parking ?

Also, the changing rooms entrance is still round to the left of the main Leisure Centre building (opposite the pitches), but they have been 'reduced' somewhat and apparently there is hardly room in there for one team, let alone four and the Referees ! (There are two pitches at Grundy Park).
I don't think the showers (and toilets) work either. Last time we played there the showers & toilet area was ankle deep in 'leaking effluent'.

Fine for Sunday

Re: Squad for First League Match (Sunday 2nd September)

Loveday only wants to play if we are desperate, so we still need another three players so that we can have a squad of 16.

We definitely need Dan Tribe to come along as a sub goalkeeper if he can.
We are hoping that Ivan Bass and Vernon 'Kizza' Nxumalo will be the other two. Ivan played 7-a-side last night but doesn't know if he can play this Sunday at the moment due to family commitments. I think he said he would let us know this evening.
Kizza is supposed to be paying his subs by BACS into the club account today, but there seems to be 'some delay'.
If it goes through before Sunday, then he can be named in the squad.

If Ivan & Kizza don't play but everybody else (including Dan Tribe) turns up, we will have a squad of 14, but we really need the options that Ivan & Kizza give us if we want to have a better chance of getting off to a good start with a win.

The other registered players who could play if we are 'short' are Loveday, Riaz Daniels, Martin Worthington, John Scouller & Tim Beeden
All they have to do is get in touch with Trevor and let him know.

I will be out filming a Tournament tomorrow (Saturday) between 10.00.a.m. & 6.30.p.m, so my phone will be switched off during that time.
