Squad for Sunday 27th February (Away to McKenzie Rangers)

This coming Sunday we are Away to McKenzie Rangers in a Division One match on Pitch 23 at Enfield Playing Fields.
We will be changing in the Central Pavilion, so therefore meeting there at 9.45-10.00.a.m. and using the Ladysmith Road car park...from where I will need help carrying all the kit, etc. from the car.
Directions to the Ladysmith Road car park are on the Forthcoming Fixtures page.

As far as I know, the squad for this match will be announced after training on Wednesday night, as there are some players who Trevor is unsure about regarding their availability.
We have it that the following players are definitely unavailable at the moment:
Steve Cokell...Family Commitments
Rob Brown...Going early to the Carling Cup Final for a pre-match p!ss-up.
Conor McGovern...Going to the Carling Cup Final from Leigh-on-Sea.
Martin Loveday...Groin Strain.

Also, Tom Watts has now gone back home to Middlesbrough as he has found a job up there, so unfortunately the Friendly against Churchbury was the only game he managed to play for us during his brief stay living in Edmonton.
However, I will be posting off the registrations of Danny Brown and Martin Worthington tomorrow, so if they are accepted by the League, they will both be eligible to play this Sunday if Trevor wishes to select them.
Two other possible new players (Peter Baynard and Soterakis Soteriou ) are both due to be attending training this Wednesday, so if they turn up with a photo, they will both be registered in time for the following week.
We are also assuming that Paul Duffy is now interested in playing regularly after he played in the Friendly against Churchbury, so the squad for this match may depend on who turns up training this Wednesday and who informs Trevor of their availability and intentions for the rest of the season if they are not coming training on Wednesday.

If any players are in a position at the moment where they may not know until Saturday if they can play in this match because of injuries or possible last-minute work commitments, they must let Trevor know before Wednesday night. He does not want to name loads of players in the squad who might have to drop out at the last minute.

Re: Squad for Sunday 27th February (Away to McKenzie Rangers)

Although Wormley Rovers dropping out of the League will not be official until Thursday 3rd March in terms of expunging their record from the Division One Table, I have worked out that we are the worst affected of any team in the Division as we lose 6 points, whereas nobody else loses more than three points.

What this means is that if we lose to McKenzie Rangers this Sunday and Asco draw against Flamstead End...which is all highly likely on current form, then we will effectively be bottom of the table, even though it will not appear that way until after the 3rd March meeting.
So...this is a bit of a crucial match if we want to stay in Division One next season. (There'll be more about that in my next 'Chairman's Blog' which I hope to do after training this Wednesday).

Re: Squad for Sunday 27th February (Away to McKenzie Rangers)

We have just 11 players available for Sunday at the moment, so the squad is as follows:
Simon Jackson
Terry Moore
Alan Barnard
Martin Worthington
(Unless there is a last-minute problem with his registration)
Colin Bester
Yianni Kyriacou
Danny Hagan
Dean Assiamah
Lee King
Stuart Dorward
John Scouller

We could do with a squad of 14, so if anybody else is available, please let us know and you will be added.
If we get more than three volunteers, then Trev will decide who to leave out.

The full list of 'Not Availables' are as follows:
Steve Cokell ...Family commitments for the rest of the season.
Lexton Harrison ...Dislocated Shoulder. Could be out for the rest of the season. Is seeing a specialist next week.
Conor McGovern ...Going to the Carling Cup Final.
Rob Brown ...Going to the Carling Cup Final.
Martin Loveday ...Groin Strain. Still a few weeks away from playing again.
Terry Brown ...Working
Vernon 'Kizza' Nxumalo ...Working
Tem Adil ...Working
Tom Watts ...Gone back to Middlesbrough.
Peter Baynard ...Not registered yet. Was supposed to have come training last night.
Soterakis Soteriou ...Not registered yet. Couldn't come training last night.

Not going to happen now...as Asco v. Flamstead End has just been called off waterlogged pitch !
Ridiculous premature decision by Broxbourne Council to call all their matches off for this Sunday already when today is supposed to be sunny, dry & warm. Let's hope Enfield Council don't follow suit tomorrow and call Enfield Playing Fields off !

The next 'Chairman's Blog' will now be after our game this Sunday...for reasons I won't go into at the moment.

Re: Squad for Sunday 27th February (Away to McKenzie Rangers)

Danny Hagan's groin strain has worsened and at the moment he will not be playing on Sunday, so we are down to just 10 men now.

Also, if Martin Worthington's name does not appear here by Sunday morning, then his registration will have got lost in the post and he will not be able to play either, leaving us down to 9 (not including me).

Hagan tells me Olie Tedder (and therefore Chas Dryden) are no longer interested, so I make it that the only registered players we have left who could possibly play this Sunday are Tony King, Danny Smith, Andrew Warmerdam, Jim Arrowsmith, Paul Duffy, Gavin Mardell, Robert Dodds & Darryl Johnson (as an outfield player).
Danny Brown is in the same boat as Martin Worthington regarding his registration.
We have not heard a thing from any of these players as none of them were at training and we know that in most cases they will only come along if they are guaranteed a place in the starting line-up or at least 30 minutes if they are a sub.
If they are concerned about that, please PHONE Trevor on 07894 961484. I don't want players texting me tomorrow asking me those questions while I am out working all day.

I will play

Re: Squad for Sunday 27th February (Away to McKenzie Rangers)

I will come along been able to run but not sure how it will hold up.

Re: Squad for Sunday 27th February (Away to McKenzie Rangers)

Sorry, i am away this weekend. I cannot make it. I would have been happy to be a sub.

Martin (and Danny Brown) are now listed as registered, so that problem is now sorted.

They won't. I have just walked past the pitch and it is perfect ! ...or should that be a ?

Re: Squad for Sunday 27th February (Away to McKenzie Rangers)

Blimey - we still want to play, don't we?

I do. If we start losing any more players and non-fulfil, it's an £85.00 fine !

If we end up with only 8 including me, we still play as far as I am concerned.

The problem at the moment is that between Mon-Fri 8.00.a.m. - 11.00.p.m. Trev is too busy to answer e-mails and phone/text players to persuade them to play. That's not my job when they either want to be assured of a place in the starting line-up or guaranteed at least 30 minutes if they are a sub.
Trev will have to do all the chasing up tomorrow (when I can't because I work on Saturdays), but by then it will probably be too late as the players in question will have already arranged to do other things.
Not a lot we can do about it when players can't be bothered to get in touch of their own accord and put a message on here. It's exactly the situation I spoke about in my last 'Chairman's Blog' where these players are just too busy to even think about Rovers until 3.00.p.m. on a Saturday afternoon (and then text me !)

That's why I always panic on a Friday !

Have just found out from Terry Brown via Facebbok that Paul Duffy & Danny Brown are definitely not available this Sunday.

Also, Danny Hagan has now confirmed that he is definitely out of this match with a groin strain.

Re: Squad for Sunday 27th February (Away to McKenzie Rangers)

The message from Rob 'I will play' was Rob Brown who will replace Danny Hagan.

Rob is going to Wembley after the game like me.

Re: Squad for Sunday 27th February (Away to McKenzie Rangers)

Danny Smith is playing.
