We were playing top of the table side Wood Green Old Boys so we knew it would be a good test for some of our new players even before we fell behind after just one minute. However, we kept the game tight and were unlucky not to equalise with Daniel Daley and Martin Loveday both having good shots saved. Unfortunately, an excellent solo effort put us 2-0 down and another good finish made it 3-0 by half time. In the second half Wood Green were reduced to 6 players by referee Mr Wildgoose’s famous red card after some unnecessary foul and abusive language after a minor decision went against them. Daniel Daley was unlucky not to pull a goal back with an excellent turn and finish but Mr Wildgoose had already given us another free kick. At least this fired up Daley and another excellent bit of play saw him set up Lee King for a tap in. We were well on top against the 6 men but a quick breakaway with five minutes left led to us conceding a killer fourth goal. There was still time for Danny Hagan to pull another goal back but the game finished in a 4-2 defeat. However, it was a good work out against a good side and Ozel Ozerman made several fine saves in goal and new players Steve Sivathasan, Lee King and Dean Assiamah all proved that they can play against this standard of opposition.
