Cheshunt (Sunday) have just dropped out of the League after losing 4-2 and 8-0 today to Enfield Royals in a Double-Header. They only had 9 men in the second match.
We therefore now have no match next Sunday (11th April).
Sunday 18th April v. Cheshunt Corinthians (Double-Header) is our next match, and it is having to be played at Waltham Cross Playing fields.
That's because St. Mary's will now be using Hazelwood (for the third week running) if it is available on that date...to play at Home to East Herts (who Cheshunt Sunday were originally due to be playing). We have played over Hazelwood a lot more than St. Mary's this season, so we can't really complain.
Loveday is on the net rota anyway for our next Home match. (He can reach the crossbar at Waltham Cross Playing Fields without a pair of stepladders !)
The squad for the Cheshunt Corinthians Double-Header will be announced next Monday (12th April).
At the moment, Terry Moore, Danny Hagan, Conor McGovern & Terry Brown are all unavailable (as far as I know).
If anybody else cannot play, please let us know as soon as possible.
they did not have 9 men they had 11 and one was sent off
Only going by what I read on Facebook.
It says the sending off was early on in the second match, then someone went off injured and it left them down to 9 men (as they had no subs).
Just had a phone call from Dave Smith (League Fixture Secretary).
Apparently Cheshunt (Sunday) are now going to try and continue for the rest of the season from this Sunday onwards...so our game is back on !!!
(This will be confirmed by tomorrow (Tuesday) morning).
It looks as if it was their Secretary's decision to pull the club out of the League, but some of the existing players now want to take over instead (after getting rid of their Manager). A lot of politics going on there ?
