Well Done The Monday Night Team !

As Trev won't be doing his report until later in the week, I'd just like to say well done to the Monday Night Team for their performance last night.

I know we lost 4-1 but we didn't deserve that at all.

We only had a squad of eight (instead of 10) as Warmers, Steve Cokell and Bill Wheeler all dropped out at the last minute, although Gary Cokell unexpectedly turned up to take his brother's place.

We also had Oz, Colin and Tem all turn up with just five minutes to spare because they thought it was an 8.00.p.m. kick-off and because of that we were very disorganised to start with and found ourselves 2-0 down after only 6 minutes.
However, we then played really well after that and Colin and Speller were both really unlucky not to score goals which would have been better than anything the Thursday Night Team have produced so far this season ! (The Casuals keeper made 'wonder' saves on both occasions).

Oz also made some good saves, Tem scored a well-taken goal and the passing, movement and calling was much better this week, particularly between Nick, Colin and Tem.
We let in two goals in the last six minutes to lose 4-1 only because Trevor decided to push another defender up into midfield in going for an equaliser and we weren't fit enough to play with just two at the back against one of the better teams in the League.

We have been playing the better teams on Mondays lately and our next two opponents shouldn't be quite as good, so maybe we might win a game soon !

Re: Well Done The Monday Night Team !

The Monday Night Team finally managed to win their first game of the Summer by beating Enfield Bullets 'A' 3-2 last night.

We fielded a full-strength side with Bill Wheeler coming in for prospective new signing Matt Crawley who was unavailable, and we were by far the better side and should have won by a bigger margin.
Our goals (by Nick, Ritchie & Bill) were all quality strikes/finishes, although Ritchie's took a bit of a deflection, but both of Bullets' goals came from bad mistakes by us defensively (Bill and Speller). Even though our passing and movement was excellent, we still need to improve with our shooting from close range and be a bit sharper 'in the box'.

The Monday Night Team are definitely benefitting from having the same players play every week though, and the teamwork has been much better the last two or three weeks.
