We are Away to Northmet (Riverside) on Sunday 19th Feb.
Please note that they now play at Holtwhites Hill (Hinton F.C.) and not at the Riverside Club in Turkey Street.
We do not have a match on Sunday 26th February AT THE MOMENT, but players MUST NOT arrange to do something else until that has been confirmed on Monday 20th Feb.
We want 'everybody' making an effort to attend training this Tuesday. There is no worthwhile football on TV, the weather is supposed to be mild, myself and Trevor will both be there, and so will at least three good new players who will be signing up ready for this Sunday (if needed) if they bring their photos with them. I'm not going to announce who they are just yet, although two of them were at training last Tuesday...when we had a crap turnout of just 8 !!!
We still need a new goalkeeper though.
We need to make the most of this training session as next Tuesday is Valentines Night and Tuesdays thereafter are also likely to see poor turnouts or even complete cancellations due to the Champions League re-commencing, while I will be filming a lot of forthcoming Non-League matches.
I have now changed the Clip Of The Week to Terry's Own Goal in our last match against London Ajax.
Just to keep you updated, I've been referred to a back specialist for an MRI scan. The physio thinks the groin and leg issues stem from an old back injury. The bottom line being that it doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to play in the foreseeable future - if at all again.
Sorry to let you guys down but hey, I'd like to be able to walk when I'm 40 !!
Johnny.
I saw 'Jacko' (i.e. George N'Bogwou) on Saturday...in a rubbish dump believe it or not ! ...and he said he might help us out 'if we were desperate'. I forgot to ask him if he was a Dad yet though, so the baby may be due this weekend, but if not, then maybe he might play in goal ?
There is always a risk that he might have to let us down at the last minute, but if we haven't got a keeper anyway then we just treat it as a bonus if he can play.
We have had no response to the adverts for a keeper that I have put on the Latest Club News page and the League website. Now there's a surprise !
To be honest, I will be amazed if one turns up to training tomorrow night...with a photo.
I am still getting asked by players what Darryl's situation is, and the last time I heard from him (by e-mail about three weeks ago) he said he is not supposed to play until the end of February at the earliest because of a groin strain, while he is back with his girlfriend again and because of work commitments, the only day he gets to see her (and the kids ?) is a Sunday.
He wants to play, but can't really.
As I have always said, family commitments should be more important than playing for Rovers if players are in that sort of situation, but if Simon or Darryl come on here to say they can help us out in at least one or two of our remaining five matches, that would be great.
I heard Stuart telling Warmers after our last match against London Ajax that he will NOT be in goal again this Sunday having volunteered last time, and that various other outfield players will have to take it in turns each week...so who's the volunteer for this Sunday then ?
Forgot to mention that we will not have a game on Sunday 5th March either as we have asked the League to use up our one allowable release date.
This is because six of our players will be attending Harry Dorward's Christening.
Can't come to training as my college day has switched to Tuesdays and is 9am till 9pm, if possible I may "bunk off" (very Grange Hill!) the late session, although I will be a bit loathe to do so if there is only the usual shabby turn out. So Lol, I will text you nearer the time to get your optimistic view of who may be present.
As far as I am concerned, the 'Should Be's' for tomorrow night are:
Myself, Trevor, Stuart, Wooly, Foysol, Nugget, Colin, Dan, Kris, Juneka Junior and his Spanish mate who came last week, Speller, Steve Cokell, Conor, Terry, Nick Vertigans, Warmers, and a couple of Warmers' mates, both of whom are good players.
That's a total of 19 if all of them make an effort.
Of course I have just seen a weather forecast which now says it is going to 'chuck it down' tomorrow evening with gale force winds !
Jacko has texted me to say he is coming training tonight (obviously the rain won't put him off as he is a Northerner ! ) and he is willing to go in goal this Sunday.
Hi chaps. I am sorry to say that i will be out for the rest of the season. This is to do with the injured groin and not the missus. I am gutted to say the least!!! I will do my best to come along and support when i can. Good luck.
Just a message to Trev & Stu that my e-mail (Yahoo Mail) is not working at the moment, so I can't send my normal list of who is supposed to be going training tonight.
At the moment it looks like 14 'Should Be's' and 10 'Might Be's' !
