The squad for the First Team's next 7-a-side match this Thursday (8.30.p.m. kick-off) against Energiser is as follows:
Darryl Johnson or Simon Jackson (Whichever one says they are available first !?), Stuart Dorward, Paul Woolston, Andrew Warmerdam, Terry Moore, Chris Akinrele, John Beasley, Nick Vertigans, Eric Ibekwem & Conor Mc,Govern.
If anybody drops out of the above squad, Derek Dorward will be the first to be called up (if he is available).
Please note that Energiser have failed to turn up for their last two matches, albeit a few weeks ago now. I will phone the League organiser at some stage today (Monday) to find out what their current situation is.
As last Thursday night's results went our way (while we did not have a match), we have now already qualified for the Thursday Night 'Champions League' with this match and our game against Enfield Bullets 'B' on the 4th August still to play. In theory, with the First Team currently playing on Sundays in the Risden Wood Tournament., we could give other players (i.e. Reserve Team players & trialists) a run-out in these two matches, but as half our normal Thursday night team did not play in our Tournament match against Ventega Sports on Sunday, we have decided to name our normal full-strength squad for this match.
The Thursday Night 'Champions League' starts on Thursday 11th August and finishes on Thursday 8th September, although there will be one week where we will not have a match during that five-week period.
Wooly has now dropped out due to injuries received playing against Ventega Sports on Sunday.
He is also doubtful for this Sunday because of that.
If Darryl cannot play tomorrow night we will only have 8 (including an outfield player in goal), so if any Reserve Team players who did NOT play on Monday night fancy a game, please let us know.
Also, I have been assured by the League organiser that Energiser are 'definitely' turning up this week !
