Finding where a regiment or unit was

Hello friends
I am currently helping a lady conduct research into her late father who appears to have served in the RA, the RAC and the RTR.
Was 42nd Regiment and 42 LAA Regiment one and the same?
If not, can anyone throw any light on my problem.
He apparently transferred to 42nd LAA in 1943

Re: Finding where a regiment or unit was

Stephen, according to our Regimental history, we were 16 (Brigade) Field Regt during the war. Only becoming 42 Field Regt in 1947. So it's improbable that we were anything to do with 42nd LAA (Light Anti Aircraft).
