I just ran a check on aklives using "whois"

Frankly, for the most part it's greek to me, but some email addresses and phone numbers did turn up. Has anyone tried the Maddox telephone number?

i think that's the WAAAAAY old addy for maddox. wasn't this the addy that "claire" visited back in the beginning? remember those photos?!? those were GREAT!!! hehe.

didn't his number change early last year (05)?...in recounting tales to a newbie, it's hard to believe i've been following this since 04! jeez, I didn't think it'd been that long.

the "whois" search engine seems to log details each time the info has been updated/changed. that info is current.

Not necessarily. They don't usually check address and phone numbers. Only whether an email is working or not.

How I know: I just got a WHOIS notification to update my own info for a website. I know the address and phone are wrong, and I'm not changing them because it doesn't matter. As long as they can reach me through my email, that's all they really need.

So- has anyone real ever tried calling the number? Or has a character claimed to have called the number?

Well, even if we're beating dead horses, they make pretty sounds sometimes.

I remember those pictures well, The back of some woman, the single TV Set. But more important to me was the excitement of someone making the trip to the address. I really cannot get over the years I've spent on this. And the little that has been learned in that time. I'm waiting for the book or website devoted to the years and our detective work, the site and boards, and every step that we've taken.

It's more than sad, it's both pathetic and infuriating. Reading that Raaawb has headed underground, I looked at Claire's messageboard, something I've done only once in the last year or so. Seeing the crap going on there with the photoshopped pictures of him and MM really ****** me off. Same old ****. I went and took off (from andylives) every reference I had to andykaufmanlives and Claire's board.

When you think about Momchilov (Andy Homepage) and Tony Weier (Celebrating AK Society), their takes on the Andy Kaufman fan, the fate of their websites, it's easy to understand where they're coming from. Easy to understand Raaawb giving up and going away. What makes it worthwhile? There are many cool people around, Iggy, Levi, Jana, Sara and others, but the stuff that's come by way of that site & message board makes me sick. Sick enough to stay away. It's hard to believe that people are still wasting their time with it. To say that you miss K-mart, Jana, is just mind boggling to me.

I was joking, Rex. Really. Kmart used to send me vile pornographic laced poetry and emails.

What I am trying to do is figure out where "Winston/Kmart/Gingerbreadman/Claire et al" have gone. Most of the addresses I had are now defunct. ESPECIALLY the "claire_chanel9@hotmail.com"-- who remembers that one?

Okay. I was kind of steaming when I wrote that last night. It sucks to get wrapped back up in this stuff. Getting away from it has been one of the best favors I've done for myself.
