Interesting to see some of those thoughts being floated back in 2003 (ah, the good old days). At least before we gave them such cross-examination here on these message boards after the 20th anniversary thingie. (Of course it was goin' on before that, but apparently not with such volume.)
I looked to see more about this blogger, and here's the address to his archive for the month he posted that:
There's a little bit more discussion about Kaufman there, but not so much... at least one can see that this was more a passing thought he posted rather than a crusade or somesuch.
I never thought about the Elvis connection. Charlie (Kaufman) to Nick (Cage) to Lisa Marie (Presley). And hey- wasn't he Nick (Cage) up for the role of Andy (Kaufman, not Charlie)?
