And if a tree falls in the woods...

Which brings me back to that darn cat!

Here's Schrödinger's (theoretical) experiment: We place a living kitty cat into a steel chamber, along with a device containing a vial of hydrocyanic acid. There is, in the chamber, a tiny amount of a radioactive substance. If even a single atom of the substance decays during the test period, a relay mechanism will trip a hammer, which will, in turn, break the vial and kill said kitty cat. The observer cannot know whether or not an atom of the substance has decayed, and consequently, cannot know whether the vial has been broken, the hydrocyanic acid released, and the kitty cat killed. Since we cannot know, the kitty cat is BOTH dead and alive according to quantum law, in a superposition of states. It is only when we break open the box and learn the condition of the kitty cat that the superposition is lost, and the kitty cat becomes one or the other (dead or alive).

So- can someone please open up that **** BOX?!?!?!

Re: And if a tree falls in the woods...

Yeah, let us out!!

Re: Re: And if a tree falls in the woods...

But do we want to lose the superposition and possibly kill the kitty?

Re: Re: Re: And if a tree falls in the woods...

Don't worry, Sara; this kitty will always be alive somewhere.

"As I mulled it over, I concluded that when I do go next time, for real, nobody will believe it. What better way is there to achieve immortality?"

Re: Re: Re: Re: And if a tree falls in the woods...

I like the idea that even though he was in hiding all that time, he was not content to ramain inactive, or to refrain from mischief. That's why I'm drawn to the Charlie Kaufman theory, or the streat performer in Venice, or something along those lines.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: And if a tree falls in the woods...

There is logic to your mischief theory.

Re: Re: Return?

"I like the "right under our noses" type return."

So Andy will come back... as a moustache!

And... I think the live kitty would be more fun than the dead kitty.

Re: Return?

Would AK "get along with Lawler" if he came back? Or would they still pretend to hate each other? I would like to see him come back on Letterman or any late night show; with his "attitude" Andy: You fools thought I was dead! God**** you!
