What do you think the last two lines of the novel mean? I have a paper due in which I have to explain the significance of the last two lines....I wanted to hear other's opinions to decide whether I am completely off base.
When Hilde and her father discover the boat has been untied the Major says:
"One of us will have to swim out to it."
Hilde says, "We'll both go, Dad."
What is the significance?
-Are they equals now?
-Is she referring to Sophie and Alberto?
Any ideas would be helpful... thanks!
I hope this isn't too frivolous for a paper.
I haven't read the book.
When I was 8 watching Dr Who, whenever the Doctor said to his assistant, "you stay here and I'll fight the Daleks", whenever they split up, you knew trouble was coming. At such moments I was always saying: don't split up, stay together!
