Corona held the record until Dean Corll. When Gacy was arrested Dec. 1978 this eventually led to 33 murder convictions which made Gacy the most prolific (known) serial killer of our time until like week when Gary Leon Ridgway confessed to over 70 murders and 48 unsolved murder cases were closed in Seattle, Washington's King County. My guess is that there will be even more murders attributed to Mr. Ridgway as more time passes. Not to mention he's a suspect in other counties and States for dozens more murders.
