And in honor of the 1984th post....

I went looking for something interesting, so maybe this will do....

First, I found this brief mention on http://www.disinfotainmenttoday.com/issue94.htm:

"Everything Else

It's almost the 20th anniversary of Andy Kaufman's death, so it's appropriate to visit the maniac who thinks he's still alive. (I was one of the last people to work with him. The story is here.)"

I mention this first because the rest of that page is rather entertaining, although nothing further about Andy. In the original, the word "maniac" is a link to AKLives. And the "here"....

I know I've seen this one before, but I think it was worth looking at again... the fellow's detailed telling of working on "The Top," apparently Andy's last televised public appearance, recorded in December 1983. Quite some drama in the backstory, written by Michael Dare, who was hired to be the head writer of the show. The birth of the show came after someone was bludgeoned to death; originally the show was to be hosted by Chevy Chase and including Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray as guest stars; the tyrannical producer/director shuts up the writer in a story meeting by flashing a gun at him... Chevy is knocked offstage by slamdancing punk rockers and leaves after just 30 seconds of tape is shot... and Andy comes in at the last minute to save the day.

And Andy plays his most perplexing character ever... himself. All that, and baby ducks. Worth a clicksee, don'tcha think?
