Yes, Fr Reid was a good man who helped bring about the Peace Process. He talked to everyone, regardless of their class or creed.

The Pope recently wrote that many people in religious and public life are like "white washed tombs": gleaming on the outside but within filled by corrupt rotting flesh and bones. Fr Alex Reid was not one of those. He got down among the poor, the lost , the violent and others on the margins of society. He worked tirelessly for peace and who can forget the picture of him giving the last rights to two young soldiers who had been brutally executed by the IRA.

In the insane asylum of the troubles he held onto reality and helped others move to that position.

May he now find his own peace. His memory will burn brightly for those who knew of his ministry in this life.
