Reformation Day

A historical event which which seems to be forgotten or pushed into the background because of Halloween is that on 31 October 1510 = 490 years ago Martin Luther nailed his " Thesis " to the main door of the church in Wittenberg and officially started the Reformation. It's still a public holiday here in some German states including predominantly Catholic Bavaria. The church is still in a good state of preservation I visited it in 1999 when I was in the region. It was in what once was east Germany and the whole town of Wittenberg is like walking back a few hundred years , probably due to the fact there was no building materials available

Re: Reformation Day

Donald,
I could be wrong (probably am), but is that not the same area/town where a German pastor led the opposition to the comminist rule in what was then East Germany.

Re: Reformation Day

Donald and LR, pardon me, but, as Rachel would say, "I haven't a baldy notion what you're talking about"!!!!
