Lisburn Exiles Forum

(Site is no longer operational pending a major long overdue overhaul of the entire website. Thank you for your patience. Site should still be visible and searchable for old posts.)

The Lisburn Exiles Forum is dedicated to the memory of James Goddard Collins (The Boss) who single-handedly built LISBURN.COM (with a lot of help from many contributors) from 1996 to 29th November 2012. This website was his passion and helping people with a common interest in the City of Lisburn around the world is his lasting legacy.

Setanta

This was the name of the young Cuchulainn.
I didn't know that, and, by heavens, there isn't much I don't know

Re: Setanta

Hi Dabbler,

Surprised you did'nt know that.

Re: Setanta

Katie,
My last contact with the Fir Bolg and the Tuatha De Danann was sixty years ago.

Re: Re: Setanta

Dabbler
U never forgot your history lessons. We were never taught any Irish history or myths or legends at school. Only read of Sentanta etc later in story books. Great stories, better than Harry Potter. Pat

Re: Re: Re: Setanta

What about " Darby O' Gill & the Little People" with a young Sean Connery.? . Magic. Still love to watch it with the grandchildren who cower when the Banshee comes in the Death Coach, but love it all the same. A classic.

Re: Setanta

I's here!
I did like Darby O'Gill, but I loved the myths, which I believed to be history, learned in my formative years. The Land Of Tir Na N'Og sticks out in my memory. Perhaps because I'm still there!

Re: Setanta

Maybe it's the wine, but I just noticed that I didn't need to use The Land Of, since the name in Gaelic means Land of youth.
