Y

I'm wondering if you could help me.

I'm wondering if there is a rune shaped thus- Y. Or a similar sacred symbol in Nordic lore. Actually a T shaped rune would do for what I'm searching for. What does the T mean/represent in the runes? Basically I need a rune/Nordic symbol with three lines meeting a central pivot e.g. Y. I know also of the Celtic (but also Germanic) Triskelion.

Hopeing someone can help me.

Re: Y

The most commonly used runes - Elder Futhark and Anglo-Saxon Futhorc - do not have a rune shaped like a Y. The Younger Futhark rune Kenaz (K or hard C), and Sowilo (S)in one version of the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc are pretty close. They each have an upright stave with an angled stroke pointing off to the right.

The nearest you get to a Y in both the Elder Futhark and Anglo-Saxon Futhorc is the Algiz (Z) rune which represents protection.

The rune corresponding to T is Tiwaz - a powerful rune symbolizing the warrior, courage and victory. It is shaped like an upwards-pointing arrow.

Re: Y

Algiz is a Y with the center line going strait up thru the two side lines .three lines.

Algiz illustrates both the antlers of the elk, and the shape of the sedge-grass herb. It also suggests the splayed fingers of a warding-off hand.

It is a powerful rune of protection and, spiritually, it symbolizes reaching up to the divine. Algiz also represents success through endeavour in a hunt, quest, or other enterprise.

Interpretation

Although your path ahead is fraught with danger, you need have no fear, for you have the power of protection within you. You will be safe as long as you are not reckless.

This is a favourable time for risky ventures, although all things must be built on firm foundations. So try not to become complacent.

Re: Y

Thanks Runemaster and Rick H,
Appreciate your aid in my quest.
Those runes are great.

I like the Tiwaz T; this could be the one= warrior and courage. Though the Algiz' qualities are perfect= 'reaching up to the divine'. But it has an extra arm. Actually the Kenaz' qualities are also perfect and it has three limbs on a central pivot. It is possible that the Algiz is the rune I'm looking for though- one of the limbs is the vertical shaft; but this shouldn't be seen other than as the central pivot.

Basically I'm looking for a symbol which metaphysically may represent the three roots of the Yggdrasil- the central pivot being the Ash's trunk itself. Therefore the symbol is an horizontal symbol like the Swastika (Guenón's Symbolism of the Cross) with Igni the Fire of Heaven being the Celestial Ray meeting the central pivot= the harmonising centre/heart.

Certainly Kenaz as a symbol of both wounding and enlightenment is perfect as a Grail type symbol- the Holy Grail both wounds and heals/restores. Also the Grail is a symbol analogous to World Tree/Central Mountain type symbolism. (Evola's Mystery of the Grail).

I will think deeply about this. I will discover the Truth.
