Being Friends
Our little guys become friends with people so easily. It is not complicated. If you talk and you are nice to them, they are friends. With adults...the process gets rather complicated. Our list of what a friend should look like and act like and dress like and sound like and what kind of hairstyle they have and what kind of economic status they should have and how many kids they have and whatever...the list goes on and on and on....It sure gets complicated. Anyhow...they said one day:"Let's go that Clothing Store...let's see the lady, who owns the store !" I said..." Nah..I don't have time and you only wanna go there, cause, she always gives you candy ! " He looked at me seriously :" Yeah,we like the Candy. But,HER LIKES US ! HER LIKES PEOPLE ! HER is happy when we come.Let's go.She is nice " I dragged my feet.No go.Not that day. Then after awhile they go;"Let's visit our friend, with gray hair. The old lady from Church. Her is our friend, too. Her likes us,too ! Let's go !" I said..."It is not "Her likes us" It is "She likes us " He nods."Yeah,Her likes us ! " ( I gave up on grammar ...Who cares ) I said..."You want to see her puppy dog ?" They start jumping up and down and yelling... "Yes,we want to see the Puppy Dog " So,did they like the people or the candy and the Puppy dog ? I think, they liked the feeling of welcome. The fact, they can go unannounced and see the smile on their faces. The joy in their eyes and then the TREATS ! Candy and Puppy Dogs. What is wrong with us adults ? We forget the little things...little joys ? We forgat how to be happy for everyday things ? Why and how did we start making relationships so complicated ? If we all should become like little children...please,do not start giving out candy ! But...perhaps the Welcome. The smile. The visits would do ? Blessings. MARJA |
