I do not feel you should withhold food as a punishment. I do not think the fact that she is having potty accidents is her not following your rules. I do not feel she should be punished for not using the potty. Maybe she just is not ready to be potty trained. Have you tried using stickers or other rewards to reward good behaviour instead of taking food away for bad behaviour. If you really want to use the cookies as a reward, tell the child that she will get a small cookie after she goes potty. That way she can immediately see the reward for what she has accomplished.
I understand what you are doing with the cookies but I don't think it is appropriate at a dc when some of the kids are served cookies but not all (unless you give the other kids crackers or something else). If the child is still hungry after eating the fruit, do you give her more fruit or bread or something. Fruit is excellent but I usually serve somtihng with fruit as a filler as fruit doesn't make one feel full. Please don't take offense to this it is just my opinion. |
