Bolwell Racing ????
Hello Bolwellers....I'm thinking about racing a Bolwell Mk7 in the Historics, but I have to find out more about this Mk. Are all Mk7's the same, same specs, engine size, etc? I have a few questions, well maybe alot, so if anyone would be happy to fill me in, it would be much appreciated. Kind regards, Don. Contact: 0418213957, Work 02-9520-9938 |

There are a set of standards for Mk.7s based on their inclusion on the list of Production Sports Cars and you may have to prove a racing history for your particular car. Do you already own a Mk.7? |

Thanks for the reply John. No I do not own a Bolwell Mk7, not yet ! I'm looking for a suitable vehicle to upgrade to for racing, and a Bolwell is in my mix. As I race in group S, they do not need a racing history, but specs must be within CAMS regs, thus I'm trying to find out what are the specs for a factory built Bolwell Mk 7. So if you can help me with any info it would be appreciated. Thanks again John, kind regards, Don. |

Factory built Mark 7s are a very rare breed. The car was designed for the Holden red motor, for your purposes gearboxes are flexible but basically Holden everything is the go. I see from your work number that you are a Sydney bloke. There is a logbooked Mk.7 for sale up there. I think it's Matt Pintar's. |

Don, I too have been interested in running a Mk7 in Group SB for some time. There is a basic specification that CAMS have that enables a car to run. Essentially it is the original Sports car World road test car specification. Red X2 Motor, Triumph gearbox, Hr Disc front end with Austin 1800 rack, hr rear end located by an A bar, sheet metal chassis etc. The important part is that you must be able to prove that the car was first registered during the period, ie before Jan 1970 for group sb. (I am unsure how this fits with run on models). Deviations from the basic specifications are permitted as long as you can prove that the car was road registered in that configuration in the period. I am in Victoria, and am unsure if things are different in NSW. I have a car, that is an early one with ribbed floor and thin body that requires a complete rebuild, including new chassis, that I hope to start work on in the next year or two. It was first registered in 1968. I would be most interested to hear what you decide to do and how you get on. Simon |
