Web of Wyrd and runes?

I was just looking at About.com, and found this symbol:

http://altreligion.about.com/library/glossary/symbols/bldefswyrd.htm

They call it the web of Wyrd, and it encompasses all of the runes. I've tried finding more information on this, and have been unable to. Is this really a "modern interpretation" of the web of Wyrd, or is it something About.com made up? :)

Thank you for your help!

Re: Web of Wyrd and runes?

IMO the web of wyrd symbol shown in this article is of modern origin.

It is probably not made up by About.com, all they normally do is copy stuff from other sources. It is more likely to have been originated from Asatruars or one of the more inventive writers of the modern age.

In the about.com article they refer to runestones for divination. "runestone" is a word more correctly used for a large monolith used by the ancients as a memorials or grave marker, not for pieces used as divining runes. Their misuse of the word here is an indication that the source article they are quoting is perhaps written by someone of limited runic knowledge.
