The Four Quarters (Runic Divination Spread)
Anyone familiar with "the four quarters" spread? I did one such spread and can make sense out of most of it...except for the fourth quarter. Can anyone help me out? |

For those who are not familiar with the The Four Quarters, it is a Tarot spread that I have seen adapted for use as a runes layout. It is an oblong pattern of 11 runes to be read in sequence and is may be used as a life reading covering the past present and future. As I understand it, the fourth quarter is represented by the runes in 8th and 9th position which should be used to interpret the future outcome should the life continue in it's present condition. The layout takes this form where the numbers represent the runes in the order they are laid: 2 3 4 5 1 11 6 10 9 8 7 I have seen this layout in one or two books onTarot reading and I have found some brief references to it on the web, bu tif anyone knows of a detailed description of the runic adaptation, I would be very pleased to see a posting from you. |

It's a bit complicated, and I don't proclaim to be an expert, although I'm not a beginner. :) I read for myself and others. The way it was explained, positions 8 and 9 represent the final outcome. What is most puzzling to me is that I got an interesting reading regarding the outcome and am not sure how to interpret it, to be honest. This reading regarded the long-term viability of a relationship: The final outcome runes turned out to be: ken reversed and yr. As I said, I'm not an expert, and I'm not sure how to reconcile such a positive rune (yr) with a...well, negative one (ken reversed). |

I am no expert diviner, either. I make nice things, but I do not claim to be a great rune reader. If it were me I would take the two runes to say: "It is essential to defend yourself against ignorance (as a reverse meaning of Kauno taken in it's enlightenment sense)to achieve your desired outcome". Whether the ignorance applies to the subject or to others attempting to influence the subject - that would depend on the adjacent runes and the outcome rune No. 11. I hope that helps, and I also hope you get some more posts from better diviners than myself. |
