Insurance problem for us.

Would like to know some views from the team on the current insurance issue.

As we all no, every footy game we have we must go to Labour Club beforehand for insurance purposes. If you don't then you don't play, simple. Kind of makes sense as you would not be insured. However, we were informed today by someone on the committe that we are not insured as it wouldn't be a good investment because we have not been making enough appearences in the labour club.

So next week when we are meant to be playing bretch hill if we get broken legs "we won't have a leg to stand on". I personally am tempted to step out of the team if i am selected to play. I wouldn't even mind having to pay the insurance myself as long as i no that im covered. I mean lets be honest with each other there are quite a lot of players in the league that have mental problems when it comes down to playing football on sunday mornings (i said that quite nicely).

So post some responses and we will get our message to sven. Maybe we can pay half and labour club will do the other half.

Re: Insurance problem for us.

So yet more bull ****? Turn up to the Labour Club or your not insured to play? Does the manager not think we will find out about these things? Turns out we're not insured at all! There have been issues from one or two people, including myself, as they were eledgidly "not allowed to play" down to insurance. Hmmm.
However, not to insure us because we don't go down there often enough? They're expecting us to be there every minute of our lives! Well maybe be a slight exaggeration, but you get the idea. We are playing for their club surely they have to sponser us? If not we've got a pretty **** deal.

I'd like to know if we were insured to play whilst under the Gold name? And yes, i am concerned as someones legs will inevatably get broken, with the "mental problems" other people experience.

All i know is... big interest from Barley Mow over sponsership!

Re: Insurance problem for us.

We've got to find out what the deal is. I thought you couldn't enter a team in the league without insurance. I know I don't normally win many tackles so I may be safer than some people, but accidents do happen. Might not be a "mental" who injures you, it could happen in a fair challenge and it could happen by tripping in a hole on the pitch. Therefore, we have to sort this out.

Re: Insurance problem for us

well insurance is something i have never really thought bout in the past, but if they promised us this b4 the takeover then surely we should have it and if we dont there is def no reason to meet there b4 games. regards to tackles if ppl stop going in properly cos we mite not have insurance then these players will end up getting hurt and we will lose by more so this is not an option!

Like people have said some1 could eventually get badly injured, as regards to the past seasons i dont know if we ever would have had it????
Knowing the previous problems with the league i doubt they would check things like this??

Regards to the labour club itself- we go there after every game and y would we want to go there any other time i mean its not the place in town for youngsters!lol
i personally think we should have a team nite out and start off there perhaps the next sat when we dont have a game the next day??

I mean we have saved some money (£20 signing on well will be £10 after our membership fees for the labour club) and also we dont have to pay match fees for the away games. but the food was bad yesterday i mean why not a return to the glory days of sausage and chips rather than dodgy sandwiches??

reagrds to the barley i mean im not sure what they could offer us the manager did say food the other nite but not sure if we would get any other money?? and in the past we have asked and they didnt want to know and also there is the fact the manager wont be there 2 long?? but again this is most peoples local and we go there alot anyway(wed, thursday and weekends)

the problem being i dont think we could just switch this year as the labour club wouldnt let us use the name and prob try getting us out the league?? so this could be a option for next year?? if we are still unhappy with the 'tlc'

Re: Insurance problem for us.

Wouldn't be a good idea getting the barley mow this year anyway as it shuts early January for a few months when the refurbishment happens.
Might be worth looking in to it for next season. Might even find some new talent in there!

You never no!

Re: Insurance problem for us.

It would be impossible for us to change this season.

However, I don't think the Barley is a great deal, all it provides us with is the convenience of us being close to it. All they were willing to offer us was food after a game, which to be honest, I'm not bothered about. I don't play football for the food I'll get afterwards. If we do join, we go back to being like it was the season before - having to make the money ourselves which has been hard. I'm not sure how much the signing up costs are to the league and cups, but they are pretty expensive, add to that the £500 for the pitch and however much insurance is, and we are talking a lot of money.

The deal we have at the moment is good (very little cost to us individually - and the team have no financial problems), and all they are asking is that we turn up down there a bit more often. That isn't really too much to ask. If we go into town it isn't too bad to pop in there and have a drink instead of going to the Exchange pub, and like Lee said, we can have some team nights out in there.
