The truth about the league table.
Something I noticed looking at the league earlier. We look in a lowly 6th... and have played 10 games... which looks bad! But lets look at this closely. Red Lion have won the league, so congratulations to them. However, they are the key to everything, let me explain. Apart from Bretch Hill, who will probably get a deserved second, our other rivals for third spot are Helmdon, Abba and Aynho. Now, we have played 10 games and are on 15 points. Helmdon have played 8, and Abba and Aynho played 9 and are also on 15 points, which may lead you to think that when they have played all the games they may be on 21 points and 18 points respectively... giving us some serious catching up to do. But lets examine. As I mentioned before the Red Lion are the key. They... unless some disaster strikes, should win every game this season, and their desire to go and win every game should ensure that this happens. Now, we have played them twice and that gives us our 10 games. Helmdon have two games in hand... but when you see that they haven't played Red Lion at all, maybe those two games in hand aren't so great after all! Abba and Aynho have an extra game over us too... though they also have the mighty Red Lion to play. So a revised look at the table and everything has been evened up. Mention the fact that Helmdon and Aynho have not even played Bretch Hill yet, and Abba like us have to play them once... don't be surprised that the true final table at the end of the season looks something like an old Division 3 'top 4', with the promoted teams Red Lion, Bretch Hill, Abba and us taking the top spots! So there you have it! We may look sixth now, but **** sinks, and they well and truly will when the cream of division 3 rises to the top! A victory over Abba and we should take that 3rd spot! That should be our aim! GO GOLD! |

yea i would have to agree with what you have said, red lion should hopefully win all their games. out of our remaining 6 we should aim to win at least 5.hopefully helmdom, abba, anyho will slip and we can take 3rd or 4th. bearing in mind we should have beat anyho being 3-2 with 2 mins to go b4 losing 4-3!!!!!!!! we could easily have been on 18 points at the mo and would have been pushing for 2nd.also we lost on the opening day due to bad preparation and no friendlies. no-one can deny we were outplayed in our other 3 defeats! the only thing that may let us down is our terrible goal difference but hopefully we will claw this bak in our 2 games against st johns and that the lions will continue to knock teams for 6 or 12 as I saw yesterday! so it looks like bretch hill will come 2nd therefore we should be aiming for 4th which we said was our aim at the beginning of the season with an outside chance of 3rd?? also do we really want to get promoted this year i feel we need another season in this league to further get used to playing wit each other and push for div 1 next year. |

i would have to disagree, if you look at the fixtures played it says an untold story. I agree tht lion will win all fixtures to play. Bretch hill only just beat abba in a 4-3 win including two disputed penalty desicions in hills favour, so a hill victory over abba is not a fore gone conclusion! With heldom and bretch hill to play twice i can see them be very even so either 3 points each or hopefully two draws! Abba and heldom have played eachother twice so no points will be dropped there! Both winning one losing one. Abba are still to play the bottom club twice, 2nd bottom once and third bottom once which u would have fort would mean at least 10 points for them! We are still to play abba which we must win, however after our home game against them, which somehow we managed to win 1-0, i think we will struggle! As for ayhno they have hard games and are not good enough, they will be near the bottom come seasons end! My personal opinion is: 1.Lion 2.Abba 3.Bretch hill 4.Helmdom 5.US 6,7,8,9 - who cares! |

Hello there gold men Hopefully we will win the all of our remaining league games. It would be nice to go through another league season unbeaten. Without wishing to disrespect the sides we still have to play i think only complaceny - which hopefully won't happen as we have competition for places this year - or a fixture pile up causes us to play a weakened side as happened at the end of last season due to unavailability in midweek and injury's. If we continue our county cup run Funky chicken Merry may decide to rest players but the lads we have coming in are all good players and trying to earn a place in the starting line up We see you as the team we get on best with in the league as we did last year and would like to see you finishing above the unpredictable Bretch Hill in 2nd spot. Keep smiling, keep together, keep winning and most importantly keep believing that you can do it. We'll be doing our best for you. We have yet to play Helmdon so can't really comment about them but we feel last seasons division 3 sides are much stronger than the rest of the sides in the league. This years league is weaker than Div 3 last season. anyway good luck for the rest of the season. Seasons gretings to you all Adios

Well, Helmdon lost at home to Aynho... that stirs things up a bit more... I'm telling you, if we do as we should, we've got a good chance of 3rd! And we currently hold the most clean sheets... joint with Red Lion. A very watertight 2! Woot! |
