Rose and Crown game
Well, at least we have some points on the board. Not sure whether to be happy with the win, or disappointed that it took so long to get it. I thought the performance overall was good, so maybe, just maybe, we are beginning to get better and used to playing football again. If everyone can nominate man of the match here, and post some match ratings, that would be helpful to me. You can keep your identity secret if you wish. -Matt |

Well Well Well, you have proved your doubters wrong with a victory today, well done to the Gold boys for digging deep the only way is up from now on. No more slatings, morale is on the up.

Sim - Didn't have a lot to do but didn't do anything wrong. Couldn't have done anything about the goals. I give him a 6. Though giving him a 6 makes it look like he played bad... which he didn't. Lee/Mark - Both had solid games at right and left back. Both made good runs forward and seemed good defensive too. Lee made the cross that set up the winner. Both a 7. Greg - Ok game, looked sure at the back and is always organising, but did make the mistake that set up their second. If your being harsh, a 6, but he probably deserves a 7. Newman - Won every header and looked back to his usual best. My nomination for MoTM - 8. Hodgy - A good performance from the ********** Seemed to be a different person than normal and was on fire. Probably a good job he was subbed because he may have been sent off. 7 Matt - Ok game. Tried to pass it. Was involved in all 3 goals. Played a few over ambitious passes when he should have played them simple and kept possession. He did get the winner. So, a 7. Harry - Played ok. Didn't seem to do a great deal but he was always there. Won a few key tackles and thanks to his mazy run, we won the match. - 7. Mike - Mixed game. Played very well in the first half with some good runs, however in the second he faded and lost the ball by holding on to the ball too long. He did excellently to set up the second goal though, another 7. Woody - Great first goal, and unlucky with another chance. On a couple of occasions he should have passed instead of shot, and he did seem to wander in the second half, which was probably down to frustration and not getting the ball. - 7. Jones - Unfortunately missed the penalty, but was brave enough to take it when no-one else wanted to. Got the goal and did make some very good runs into the corners and down the wings to hold up the ball. A 7. Mark P - When he came on he added some extra enthusiasm and his first burst down the wing resulted in the second goal, and he almost scored himself towards the end - 7. Danny - Came on and worked hard as usual. Won a lot of headers and battled hard to win a lot of tackles. His corner at the end of the game shows what sort of deliveries we miss when he doesn't start. A 7. |

Well done to the GOLD on picking up your first three points of the season, its long overdue but didnt you need it. Your victory this weekend cost me money though as I had a £10 bet you would lose at corals, never mind but I thought it was a cert !!!. Anyway as Yazz would sing " the only way is up". Give me a G (ggggg), O (ooooo), L (lllllll), D (ddddddd) what you got GOLDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD ! |
