I have been researching a family by the name of John and Amelia Smith. They were on the 1860 Baltimore Hundred, Sussex, Delaware census. Their children were Sallie/Sarah, John, Rufus, Levin, Mary, James, David, Milly, William and Hester. They had two other children with them on the 1860 census: Josephine and William. I believe this second William was my great grandfather. I was very excited when I goggled Delaware Lighthouses to see that the very first lighthouse keeper was a John Smith. On the 1860 census as occupstion, John Smith and his son, Levin (or Lewis) listed lighthouse keeper. I need to find out more about this John Smith. How long was he the keeper? Is there anything written up about his family? If there's anyone out there that can help me, please e-mail me at the attached e-mail.
Thanks,
Joni
