Prostate Cancer Survivors

YANA - YOU ARE NOT ALONE NOW

PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT SITE

This forum is for the discussion of anything to do with Prostate Cancer.

There are only  two rules: no commercials (although it is quite OK to recommend treatment choices and medical people based on your personal research) or fundraisers and no flaming - be polite at all times.

Since we are aiming for it to be a true International Forum it would be good if you showed your country in your post.

Message:   Hi Dave.... Do not despair. My son-in-law, age 48, had his prostate removed surgically at Dana Farber in Boston last January. He is doing fairly well during the night but if he laughs, coughs or lifts anything he leaks. His surgeon told him that it might take full year before he is completely dry. Like you, he was dry the first and second night after surgery and thought he was more fortunate than most men because he didn't have the leakage they all talked about.......wrong! After he got home he soaked many pads a day. he is now down to 2 or 3. Mainly because of the lack of control when he has any pressure as in coughing, etc.. He has a great attitude though. He says that he is almost sure that he is the only police chief in his state who pees his pants regularly. :-)
I am 68 and was diagnosed in 1999. You can read my story in the Mentor section.
Best regards,
Trueman
