Problem with my motherboard and processor
Hello my name is Stephen Griffiths and I have a problem with the speeds of my motherboard and processor. I recently bought a new athlon xp 3200, 2.2 ghz processor and in doing so had to buy a new motherboard. Well I bought a pcchips 386m and I have installed everything. But the problem is when I start the computer up it is saying my computer is running at 2500 and 1.8 ghz. I was wondering how do I get the best performance out of my processor and motherboard. I have checked the bios and fsb speeds but I am only allowed to go upto 166mhz fsb. I have 1gig of ddr ram which is 333mhz fast. So what is the problem and how can I fix this problem of mine?. |

I don't know what you mean by "pcchips 386m". The processor supports RAM with a speed of 200 MHz. Your ram is 166 MHz (or 333 at double-data rate). If you remove the 166 MHz RAM and put in 200 MHz, your CPU will run at the rated speed. |
