pc wont start help please
i have put together an old pc which is giving me grief, point been it won't start at all.... Thought i might have a faulty power supply, which i found was not the case by testing it, and works fine... having difficulting putting the led pwr and pwr sw etc in the right slots... i think thats where the problem lies, really not sure, but if anyone has any suggestions or a list of where the led pwr etc pins go please do pass on that information to me, it would be muchly appreciated before i go crazy tryin to figure it out.... Thank You for your time hope to hear from anyone who could be of a helping hand.... Regards Vixstar |

Maybe your motherboard's BIOS battery needs to be replaced. I think connecting the LEDs is not very important. |

thank you for yr reply, have checked the bios batt and its fine. need another problem solved if possible....... ok i built a pc for a good friend of mine on occasaions it crashes but more so when it starts up it keeps saying that there is a CPU fan error, but the fan works fine, what could it be????? And why do you think it keeps crashing?????? regards Vixstar |

For your problemPentium machines needs ATX standard 2.03 cabinets. Newer Pentiums follo a more advanced ATX standard though. For your friend's problemA PC might reset like that if there is too much generated or if the RAM has become defective. Get a better heatsink/fan combination or improve the ventilation inside the cabinet by arranging the cables or using an intake and one outlet fan in addition to the one mentioned above. Make sure the fan on the SMPS is working fine. Check the RAM on another machine. |
