Re: multiple

I don't know of any transcription player that can play Real video files. You can however convert your Real videos to MPEG format and then use Subhash VCDPlayer to transcribe them. Subhash VCDPlayer is now available from Tucows.

Thank you so much!! I'll try that! This is all new for me--I will be transcribing files for a news orgainziation and they said that I need a footpedal and transribing software on my computer that can play real media video files.

Thank you so much for this site! I would like to make a donation although it won't be for a week or two. Do you have a PayPal account I can send to? Thanks again and have a wonderful day!!!

Re: multiple

O.K.--I have STUPID Windows XP--home edition. As soon as I can I plan to upgrade to professional which I like much better!

Anyway, I've downloaded the file and it's on my desktop. I guess I'm not sure what do do next to determine whether or not I will be able to these types of files. Eventually what I'll have to do is download from an FTP site and play them from my computer. Can you help?????

Re: multiple

Seems like you are computer virgin

Installation of Software

  • Beause Real media files won't play with Subhash VCDPlayer, you need to need a software to convert your Real media files to MPEG or Windows Media format. There are many sofware programs that do this. Find one from the Internet and install it in your machine.

  • Next, install Subhash VCDPlayer. Extract or unzip* the contents of VCDPlayer.zip to your desktop or some other location. Install the software by double-click the Install.exe file.

Transcribing Files

  • Using the first software, convert your Real video to MPEG (or Windows Media) format. This will create a file with .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, or .wmv extension.
  • Play the MPEG or Windows Media file in Subhash VCDPlayer and transcribe them.

Subhash VCDPlayer has a special transcription mode with special settings for transcriptionists. You will find information on this transcription mode in the Subhash VCDPlayer Help file.

If you need more help, add "moralvolcano" to your Yahoo Messenger and chat with me online.

Subhash VCDPlayer is free for personal use and distribution. For commercial use or distribution, please make a contribution to a charity called Sevalaya. Sevalaya runs an orphanage and a school in Kasuva village, Tirunninravur, Madras. A minimum of Rs. 500 or $10 would be appreciated. Your cheques should be drawn in favour of Sevalaya and mailed to:

* - To extract or unzip an .zip file, you need a zipping utility. Because you have Windows XP, Windows Explorer probably displays a zip file as a "Compressed Folder." If this is not so, then install this feature from the Add/Remove programs. Or else, install WinZip utility to open zip files.
