Context Menus in My Computer
All of a sudden, when I double-click on a folder in the right pane, the Search box opens. Double-clicking used to open the file or the folder. How can I change this back? |

You need to modify some keys in the Windows Registry to resolve the problem. Click the Start menu and select Run. Enter "regedit" and click OK. Navigate to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell" key on the left pane. On the right pane, double click the "default" value (or right click "default" and select "Modify"). Set the value to "none". If the problem occurs for drives, navigate to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\drive\shell" and change its "default" value to "none". For more information, see the Microsoft advisory about this problem. |
