job seeking
I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with any discrimination due to age or weight factors while seeking other employment. I have interviewed for several positions over the last 4 years and have come away from each interview with what I perceived as good feed back. I have a Double class III cert, have had many tech advisor jobs and been with the same village over 23 years. I am also a veteran, although that doesn't seem to impress many people these days. With these attributes in mind I cant seem to land any other position whether at supervisory or just operational. The conclusion that I have arrived to is that after obtaining your certifications a person better be finding the best places to work before settling in to a place for a long span because I believe that when you start winding down the years toward your 30 yr OPERS no one seems to want to hire someone with 6 to 7 years of a possible retirement. Any thoughts on this matter? |

I'm sorry John, but I am not a good person to answer that question. I have forwarded your inquiry to other people that are more involved in the industry than I am. I do know that "brain drain" has been a concern in the industry, as there is a great percentage of Operators retiring within the next decade. I cannot give any specific reason why you would be having these experiences. I will try to find out more and direct people to your question. Thanks, Ruben The Web Guy |
